June Newsletter: NashvilleHealth project named as Finalist for Robert Wood Johnson Foundation Prize

We are excited to announce a signature NashvilleHealth project is a finalist for a Robert Wood Johnson Foundation Culture of Health Prize. The project, developed by our Health Equity Coalition, focuses on North Nashville’s battle with high blood pressure by collaborating to give ALL Nashvillians an opportunity to be healthy.

Thank you to Matthew Walker Comprehensive Health Center, Meharry Medical College, our Heath Equity Coalition Partners, and RWJF for collaborating and supporting this important work.

Learn More About Our North Nashville Hypertension Project

The Health Equity Coalition is eager to continue our hard work on our first pilot project looking to lower hypertension rates in North Nashville. We will convene again this month to get an update.

Gun violence is a public health crisis. Child and teen firearm deaths have increased by 50% in the last two years. Our Founder, Senator Bill Frist, said it best in his recent Forbes article, “Our path forward will not be easy: it will require a substantive shift in our culture and will challenge our priorities. And, ultimately, there is no single law or policy that will eliminate gun violence in America. However, there are many small steps that, when taken together, can make a major difference.”

NashvilleHealth is proud to partner with The Nature Conservancy in Tennessee and share the work they are doing to address the climate crisis.

“Threats to nature and public health are intertwined—a collaborative approach is needed to achieve an equitable, sustainable future. Our organization is focused on cutting-edge solutions to tackle the climate and biodiversity crises.“
