May 3, 2022 Newsletter: NashvilleHealth Featured in White House Summit

NashvilleHealth in the News

Featured in White House Summit

NashvilleHealth was honored to participate in the White House Summit for Strengthening the Nation’s Early Warning System for Health Threats in support of the launch of the CDC’s Center for Forecasting and Outbreak Analytics.

Because Nashville is the first city in the country to do a real-time analysis of its COVID-19 response, CEO Mark Yancy was able to offer insight on pandemic communication at the local level.

The Nashville COVID-19 Response Review provides a roadmap on how Nashville can be better prepared in future pandemics.

“We’ve got to understand that we [public health officials] even have a bias towards our own information that we collect. When you have a particularly new and frightening situation like a COVID or new variant or new infectious disease, you have to offset that reliance on the empirical data in front of you with some qualitative data in those communities.” – Yancy said on the panel.

At a summit in Washington, D.C., the federal government and other organizations, including local nonprofit NashvilleHealth, reviewed the nation’s response to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Environmental health and public health are inextricably linked.

In many ways, they are one and the same. Check out this blog post from our partners Root Nashville about why we are working together to raise awareness about the link between public health and the environment.

Highlighting the Importance of Health Equity

At the Business Group on Health 2022 Annual Conference, CEO Mark Yancy joined NashvilleHealth founder Senator Bill Frist, M.D., Dr. Andrea Willis, and Neil de Crescenzo on a panel to discuss the power of partnership in tackling population health issues and how collaborative initiatives like NashvilleHealth are working to ensure every member of our community has a fair and just opportunity to be as healthy as possible.
