Nashville has Unacceptable Infant and Maternal Mortality Rates
Infant and maternal mortality rates have been on the rise in the U.S. since 2018. These rates have increased across all races and ethnicities; however, recent data reveal that Black and Brown mothers and babies are much more likely to die during this vulnerable period than their White counterparts. Such disparities speak volumes to our need to improve health equity locally and at large. |

Ambitious, Actionable Recommendations to End Hunger
NashvilleHealth Founder and Board Chair Senator Bill Frist is co-chair of the Task Force on Hunger, Nutrition, and Health—a nongovernment, nonpartisan group of subject matter experts and multi-sector leaders. The task force has put forth a series of policy recommendations and actions to advance the 2022 White House Conference goals of ending hunger, improving nutrition, and reducing diet-related diseases in the United States. |
It is clear that the challenges of food insecurity, diet-related diseases, and health inequities intersect with and exacerbate each other, and that radical systemic changes across multiple sectors are needed to adequately address them. The Biden-Harris Administration will host a White House Conference on Hunger, Nutrition, and Health on September 28, 2022 in Washington, DC. |
