The Tobacco-Free Tennessee Coalition recently gathered to learn about youth tobacco and vaping cessation efforts at the state and national level with experts from the Campaign for Tobacco-Free Kids, the Tennessee Department of Health, and Truth Initiative.
A coalition of members also began planning efforts to support current federal and state legislation seeking to raise the sales age for tobacco and vape products to 21. A special thanks to our meeting host Cigna.
A recent Tennessee Tobacco Opinion Poll showed 63 percent of Tennesseans support raising the tobacco sales age to 21, with 86 percent saying vape products should be included. In the same poll, seven out of 10 Tennessee voters said they are concerned about smoking and other tobacco use among young people
You can help grow Nashville’s tree canopy and support the Root Nashville initiative by taking the “Pledge to Plant” this upcoming planting season which runs mid-October through March. Root Nashville is a public private campaign to plant 500,000 trees across Davidson County by 2050. Pledge participants will receive information on where to get trees, and important tips for planting and care.

The event, hosted by Tivity Health, focused on addressing social determinants of health, as part of our broader campaign to tackle social isolation and improve the health and well-being of older Americans, especially those who live in rural areas.
