Program Spotlight: Heart of Nashville – Senior Ride Nashville

The “Heart of Nashville” project, funded through the Metro Nashville Public Health Department and led by NashvilleHealth, focuses on improving how communities access the care and resources they need to live healthier lives. By bringing together trusted organizations across health, nutrition, and community services, this initiative is helping remove barriers and create a more connected, supportive system of care. At its core, the Heart of Nashville is about ensuring that every resident has the opportunity to experience a healthier, more stable quality of life.

A key partner in this work is Senior Ride Nashville, a nonprofit founded in 2016 to address a growing need for accessible and affordable transportation for older adults. As Nashville continues to grow, transportation infrastructure has not always kept pace, leaving many residents without reliable ways to access essential services. Senior Ride Nashville helps bridge that gap by providing assisted transportation so older adults can reach medical appointments, grocery stores, green spaces, and community activities. Their work plays a critical role in supporting independence, dignity, and overall well-being.

Within the Heart of Nashville initiative, Senior Ride Nashville serves as the transportation partner, working alongside organizations like Matthew Walker Health Center, Nashville Food Project, and Metro Parks. By connecting individuals to these trusted community resources, they help ensure that services designed to improve health and quality of life are truly accessible.

NashvilleHealth is proud to partner with Senior Ride Nashville and our broader network of collaborators in this effort. Through shared learning, aligned missions, and a commitment to collective impact, this initiative is breaking down silos and strengthening the way we serve our community. As this work continues to grow, it holds the potential to expand into other communities, helping make Nashville a place where everyone can age with dignity, independence, and support.
